Business Development Director, Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy

The Brief

A large UK-based multi-disciplinary consultancy had formulated a business plan to grow aggressively in Saudi Arabia. They needed to recruit a very senior Business Development Director with local cultural knowledge and experience who has spent the bulk of his or her career working for internationally-focused consultancies.

Our Process

We conducted an exhaustive international mapping exercise to identify the handful of people in the world who met our client’s criteria.  Our consultant spent a week in the Middle East interviewing the most promising candidates in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. A number of potential candidates were presented, all of whom meeting the criteria, to be interviewed by the client in the Middle East. The most promising two were flown to the UK to present to the board.

The Results

Our client recruited an outstanding professional who exceeded their expectations – and the candidate secured a major high profile role with the opportunity to grow a business. By combining our rigorous search methodology with a presence on the ground in the Middle East, we were able to get to an outstanding result in a very short period of time, saving our client money.

Group Head of Programme Management – Multinational Utility

The Brief

A large international Utility Company with operations across nuclear, renewables, power and oil & gas was seeking to improve the delivery of major capital projects across their portfolio. They created the new role of Group of Programme Management, reporting to the Executive team to develop and implement an Excellence programme designed to improve governance systems and project management standards for investment decisions.

Our Process

The role was based in the UK but on the basis of our client’s multinational footprint, our client was keen our search was not restricted to a national search. We undertook an extensive search, mapping competitor organisations with relevant sector operations in the UK, EMEA and Australasia to identify candidates that combined the major capital programme delivery experience and emotional intelligence our client required to be effective in a functional leadership role. Our aim always to meet candidates where possible or use video calls, we put together a shortlist that included candidates in the UK, Europe and Asia.

The Results

We managed all interview logistics on behalf of the client, coordinating diaries and flights to ensure momentum was kept throughout the process. Our client’s preferred candidate was based in India and we led the liaison with him and coordination of internal stakeholders to secure the successful hiring and relocation, including remuneration negotiation, visa guidance and tax advice.

Nuclear Safety Engineer, Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy

The Brief

A large international multi-disciplinary consultancy was looking to bolster its already strong nuclear safety capabilities by recruiting a senior professional to increase intellectual bench strength and provide technical leadership across the business. They needed to combine the highest degree of technical capabilities with first rate interpersonal and leadership skills.

Our Process

We conducted an in-depth mapping exercise across the UK to identify the select few who met our client’s technical needs. 

We worked our way through the market, travelling around the UK, in search of the right combination of technical and personal attributes. When our client’s needs changed slightly, we presented a second shortlist of potential candidates.

The Results

Our client recruited someone truly outstanding who met all their criteria and exceeded their expectations. The candidate secured a very high level role with the opportunity to play a leading role in a growing business. By employing a full search methodology, psychometric testing and in-depth personality assessments, we ensured our client secured exactly what they needed.
